Quick Start — Shopify

Get ShopperQuiz running on your Shopify store in under 10 minutes.

What you'll need​

  • A Shopify store (any plan)
  • A ShopperQuiz account — sign up at app.shopper-quiz.com

Step 1 — Connect your store​

There are two ways to connect ShopperQuiz to your Shopify store:

Option A — From the Shopify App Store

  1. Find ShopperQuiz on the Shopify App Store and click Add app
  2. Approve the permissions in your Shopify admin and click Install
  3. You'll be redirected to app.shopper-quiz.com to complete setup

Option B — From the ShopperQuiz dashboard

  1. Sign up at app.shopper-quiz.com
  2. Go to Integrations in the sidebar
  3. Enter your store's default Shopify URL — the .myshopify.com URL assigned when you created your store (not a custom domain you may have added later). For example: your-store.myshopify.com
  4. Click Connect — you'll be redirected to your Shopify admin to approve the installation
  5. Once approved, you'll be brought back to your ShopperQuiz dashboard

ShopperQuiz is not an embedded app — it lives at app.shopper-quiz.com, separate from your Shopify admin, similar to how Klaviyo or Okendo operate.

Step 2 — Your products sync automatically​

Once connected, ShopperQuiz syncs your Shopify products, collections, and tags in the background. This usually takes less than a minute. You'll see your products appear in the Quiz Builder's right panel, ready to assign votes to.

Your catalog stays up to date automatically via webhooks — no manual imports needed.

Step 3 — Build your first quiz​

  1. Click Quizzes in the sidebar, then New quiz
  2. Give your quiz a name and you'll land in the Quiz Builder

From here:

  • Edit the Welcome Screen — add a heading, description, and optional image
  • Add questions using the + button in the left panel
  • For each answer, assign votes to the products, collections, or tags that best match
  • Configure the Results Screen — layout, button text, and how many products to show

If this is your first time, start with 3–5 questions. You can always add more later.

Step 4 — Add the quiz to your storefront​

ShopperQuiz works with any Shopify theme and embeds via a Theme App Extension block — no code required.

First, get your Quiz ID

Open your quiz in the Quiz Builder and click Quiz Settings — you'll find the Quiz ID there. You can also copy it directly from the URL in your browser while on the Quiz Builder page.

Set up a page for your quiz

We recommend placing your quiz on its own dedicated page. The ShopperQuiz widget expands to fill the page's content area, so adding it to an existing page will overlay content already there. A standalone page like /pages/hair-quiz or /pages/find-my-products works best.

  1. In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store → Pages and create a new page
  2. Give it a title and save it
  3. To make it easier to find in the next step, add the page to your menu

Add the quiz block in the theme editor

  1. Go to Online Store → Themes and click Customize (or Edit theme depending on your Shopify version)
  2. In the top bar, use the page selector to switch to the page you just created — if you added it to your menu it will appear there
  3. In the left panel, you'll see the page template broken into sections — look for the area between the header and footer (this is the page content area)
  4. Click Add section in that area
  5. Switch to the Apps tab — you'll see ShopperQuiz listed there
  6. Select it, and a Quiz ID field will appear in the block settings
  7. Paste your Quiz ID — the quiz will render immediately in the preview
  8. Click Save

The quiz is now live on that page.

Step 5 — Test it​

Visit the page where you embedded the quiz and take it as a shopper would. Check that questions and answers display correctly, results show the products you expect, and the Add to cart and Buy now buttons work.

If the results aren't what you expect, revisit your vote assignments in the builder. The right panel shows each product's total accumulated votes across the entire quiz — use that to diagnose mismatches.

You're live​

As shoppers complete the quiz, their responses appear in Analytics and Responses in your ShopperQuiz dashboard.
